Refocusing Our Learning

Here is the idea. A tradesperson goes to school to learn the tools of his trade. She leaves college with a tool box filled with the tools that will be used to perform her craft. At ICC Engineering we are taking that concept to heart. Our second year students are in the process of "refocusing" on everything they have learned in calc, circuits, statics, etc. We have gotten them toolboxes and they are writing every equation on an index card and telling the story of when/how the equation is used. When they graduate the students will take the tool box and its contents with them to ply their trade in the future.
